One UI 6.1.1 Might Take a While to Reach Galaxy S23 and Others

by | Sep 6, 2024 | News, One UI, Updates

Excited about the One UI 6.1.1 update? Just a heads up — it might take a little while before it hits all Galaxy devices. Samsung says the big feature release will be widely available for the Galaxy S24 series starting next Monday, September 9. The rest of the eligible models, like the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, will receive it after that, starting on September 12. This schedule may not apply globally, though.

One UI 6.1.1 is still a week away for 2023 or older Galaxy devices

Yesterday, Samsung finally released the One UI 6.1.1-based One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S24 series. As expected, it brought new AI features, camera enhancements, and tons of other goodies that debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. We have detailed all new features and improvements here.

The update was first released for the Galaxy S24 trio in Samsung’s homeland, South Korea. While we expected the rollout to quickly expand to other regions, that isn’t happening. The company said the US and European versions of the new flagships will get One UI 6.1.1 on September 9. The rest of the world will follow after that, with the update gradually rolling out to other eligible models.

The information was posted on Samsung’s global newsroom. The US-specific newsroom, meanwhile, added that the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series will receive One UI 6.1.1 beginning September 12. It’s unclear if this schedule applies to other markets. Either way, it looks like the new One UI version won’t be widely available until sometime next week.

Hopefully, Samsung will quickly wrap up the One UI 6.1.1 rollout and move on to the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update. The company will first open a public beta program to discover and fix bugs before rolling out the update to all. Beta testing may begin later this month, while the stable update is expected in November. Stick around for more about Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 and One UI 7.0 updates.
