Galaxy users may have their eyes glued on the One UI 7.0 update, but Samsung is quietly rolling out the latest security patch to more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S23 FE, A54, and A53 recently joined the fun, receiving the December security update. Devices that picked up the update earlier are also getting it in more markets.
December update available for the Galaxy S23 FE and more devices
Over the past couple of weeks, Samsung has released the December security update for the Galaxy S24 series, S24 FE, S23 series, and the last two generations of foldables, including the Fold SE. The Galaxy S23 FE was left out of the initial rollout. It is now gaining the latest security patch, starting in Europe. The Galaxy A54 and A53 are picking up the update in the US.
The European S23 FE’s December SMR (Security Maintenance Release) comes with the firmware build number S711BXXS6DXK8. It appears to be getting nothing more than this month’s security fixes from Samsung and Google. There are over 40 patches, a bunch of which address critical Android OS flaws. Some vulnerabilities only affect Galaxy phones, while others affect the entire Android ecosystem.
The Galaxy A54’s December update in the US bears the build number A546USQSACXKD or S546VLUDSBCXKD depending on your carrier variant. That for the Galaxy A53 is A536USQUDEXKA. Both models are only getting the latest security patches. Samsung isn’t rolling out any other notable changes.
These devices will soon receive the December SMR globally. Samsung is also expected to launch One UI 7.0 beta programs for the Galaxy A54 in some markets, potentially the Galaxy S23 FE as well. Currently, the beta program is only available for the Galaxy S24 series in the US, the UK, India, China, Germany, Poland, and South Korea. We will let you know when Samsung expands the program.
