Samsung’s latest One UI 8 beta release for the Galaxy S25 Ultra introduced a bizarre camera bug that affects Moon photos captured using Space Zoom. The Moon appears purple instead of its natural white. The company is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

Galaxy S25 Ultra running the latest One UI 8 beta captures purple Moon photos

The problem surfaced after the release of One UI 8 Beta 4 for the Galaxy S25 series last month. Several beta testers reported the issue, and it quickly caught the attention of Samsung’s developers, who have been able to reproduce the bug. An official Community moderator from the camera team confirmed that the bug affects Galaxy S25 Ultra units running the ZYGB build of One UI 8 beta.

According to the moderator, the bug likely stems from changes made to improve Space Zoom. The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 100x Space Zoom normally produces highly detailed shots of the Moon. However, the latest beta update appears to have unintentionally introduced a color processing bug that alters the lunar hue. Users still on One UI 7 are unaffected.

Although frustrating, the glitch shouldn’t last long. Samsung has confirmed that the next One UI 8 beta update will fix the purple Moon problem. The company plans to release Beta 5 next week. However, the moderator noted that the rollout could be delayed if last-minute verification fails. We will let you know when Samsung shares more information or officially rolls out a new beta update for the Galaxy S25 series.

In the meantime, Galaxy S25 Ultra owners can either wait for the patch or switch back to One UI 7 if lunar photography is a priority. Samsung still plans to release the stable One UI 8 update for the S25 series in September. The company will gradually expand the rollout to cover more models.
