It’s Not Just You, X (Formerly Twitter) Had a Major Outage Today

by | Mar 10, 2025 | News

X (or Twitter, whichever way you prefer) is facing a major outage, making it inaccessible to users worldwide. According to Downdetector, the first reports of issues began around 5:40 a.m. ET on Monday, with a second wave of outages at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET.

X (Twitter) is facing major outage, down for millions of users!

Users trying to access the platform were met with error messages like “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” The issue appeared to be global, with many struggling to load posts or refresh feeds. I checked X myself, and sure enough, my feed wouldn’t load. That’s when I asked my editor if he could access it around 11:30 a.m. ET, to which he said he could. This suggests that the outage wasn’t affecting everyone.

On mobile, the app showed an error, while on my desktop, posts failed to refresh. The outage comes amid reports that a hacking group called Dark Storm Team claimed responsibility for a DDoS attack. Basically, in a DDoS attack, hackers overload a website so that it slows down or crashes. X boss Elon Musk called it a “massive cyberattack” and suggested that a large, coordinated group could be behind the X outage.

If you were wondering whether your internet was acting up or if your phone was glitching, don’t worry—it’s not just you. X is (was) indeed down for many users worldwide. For now, the best thing to do is wait while the team works on fixing the issue. If you’re looking for alternatives, you can check out Bluesky, Threads, or Mastodon to stay connected while X sorts itself out.

We’re on Threads and Bluesky, too!
