Samsung Planning Sizable Home Up Update for Good Lock

by | Jun 6, 2024 | News

Samsung is preparing a significant update for its Home Up module, a key component of the Good Lock customization suite. According to a community moderator on the official Samsung community forum, users have reported an issue where the “Close All” button is positioned too high when using the vertical and slim list task changers, especially when recommended apps are turned off. This problem will be addressed in an upcoming software update, though no specific timetable has been provided.

Fix for the “Close All” Button Issue

The feedback from users highlights a usability problem with the current placement of the “Close All” button. When utilizing the vertical and slim list task changers without recommended apps, the button’s position makes it cumbersome for users to close all their apps efficiently. Samsung has acknowledged this issue and confirmed that a fix is on the way. This adjustment is crucial for enhancing the user experience, ensuring that task management remains seamless and intuitive.

While Samsung has not provided an exact date for this update, it is speculated that the fix might coincide with an update to Home Up following the release of One UI 6.1.1. Historically, significant updates to Good Lock modules are often aligned with major One UI releases, leveraging new system capabilities and improvements. This timing would allow Samsung to incorporate broader system optimizations and ensure compatibility across its ecosystem of devices.

Wish List for Future Updates

In addition to the anticipated fix, many users are hopeful that Samsung will take this opportunity to reintroduce the vertical app drawer to Home Up. This feature, previously available, was a favorite among many users for its efficient app organization and accessibility. Reintroducing the vertical app drawer, alongside resolving the current issues, would significantly enhance the Home Up module’s functionality and user satisfaction. Personally, we’ve been going crazy waiting for the vertical app drawer to return. The current horizontal setup is too clunky and requires way too many swipes if you have a large App Library.

Samsung’s commitment to addressing user feedback and improving its software modules is evident in the upcoming fix for the Home Up module. As we look forward to this update, there is also hope that Samsung will bring back beloved features like the vertical app drawer, making Home Up even more versatile and user-friendly.
