Rumors have been swirling that Samsung will ship the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 with Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box. Now, there’s documented proof to support it, thanks to a new Geekbench listing. The Fold model recently appeared on the popular benchmarking platform running Android 16.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 appears with Android 16 (One UI 8)

Samsung is about five months behind schedule with its One UI 7 update. The Android 15 update was supposed to arrive around November last year, but the rollout began just a few days ago. This massive delay raised concerns of a potential ripple effect on its software timeline, pushing back the release of One UI 8.

However, recent rumors suggest otherwise. While Samsung says its One UI 7 rollout will stretch until June, the company may introduce One UI 8 the very next month. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to go official in July, running One UI 8. While we were initially cautious about this rumor, the newly spotted Geekbench listing suggests it’s happening for real.

The US version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (model number SM-F966U) appeared on Geekbench with Android 16 onboard. The foldable features the same chipset as the Galaxy S25 series — Qualcomm’s overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite running at up to 4.47GHz — paired with 12GB of RAM and Adreno 830 GPU. It scored 18,143 in Geekbench v6.4 OpenCL GPU tests.

A massive turnaround from Samsung

This listing doesn’t reveal anything more about the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, it’s solid proof that the upcoming Samsung foldable will ship with One UI 8. And by extension, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 too. This should also mean an early arrival of the Androd 16 update for other Galaxy devices. The update could reach all eligible devices before the end of 2025.

If Samsung pulls this off, it’d be a massive turnaround after the One UI 7 disaster — we can surely call it a disaster. Not just a delayed rollout, One UI 7 is also plagued by UI inconsistencies as well as missing features in some regions. Hopefully, this won’t be the case with One UI 8. Expect more details to emerge in the coming weeks.
