Google Translate’s AI Follow-up Feature Is Coming Soon For Galaxy

by | Feb 28, 2025 | News, Samsung Apps

It seems Google is cooking up something great for its Translate app. There’s no problem with the app in its current state. It does what it promises: translation. If you don’t know what language you need translated, it even detects it and does the job. But even more cool stuff could be coming, including an AI follow-up feature in Google Translate.

Google Translate’s AI Follow-up could roll out soon, but here’s a preview

As spotted by the ever-resourceful AssembleDebug (via Android Authority), Google Translate’s AI Follow-up feature appears in version 9.3.78.731229477.7 of the app. According to the publication, they first noticed references to the feature over a month ago, allowing users to follow up on translation results. Now, we can see it running live, with the source saying they somehow managed to activate it. You can watch the full demo video here.

Android Authority hopefully explains how this feature works. So, what happens is that in the Google Translate app, after you input your content, you’ll see a new “Ask a Follow-up” button below the translation results. This button opens up several AI-powered options to enhance your translation experience. It provides additional context about the translation, helping you understand how the AI generated the result. The feature also lets you adjust the translation’s tone and style, with options like formal, casual, or simplified. You can even listen to the pronunciation by pressing a sound icon.

This new feature also offers valuable insights, such as regional variations, grammar tips, and cultural notes. Users can give feedback by using a thumbs-up or thumbs-down to rate the translation. The publication adds that Google may officially roll it out to the public once it’s ready — hopefully, it won’t make us wait long. For now, it sure seems like an overdue upgrade to an already incredibly useful app.
