Google May Soon Bring Circle to Search for Videos on Galaxy Devices

by | Oct 2, 2024 | Galaxy AI, News

Galaxy users may soon be able to use Circle to Search for videos. Newly discovered evidence suggests Google is working on this handy AI tool, though the feature is not yet operational. It is expected to roll out with a future update for the Google app. The company hasn’t officially confirmed the feature, though.

Circle to Search for videos may be on the way for Galaxy users

Currently, Google offers very few video-related search features on Android devices, including Galaxy phones and tablets. With AI Overview, you can start a search through Lens using a video recording. Additionally, Gemini’s “Ask about this video” tool allows you to find more information about videos you are watching on YouTube.

However, Google may be preparing a more accessible and powerful AI tool for video search. It appears to be preparing Circle to Search for videos. The folks over at Android Authority recently discovered code strings related to this unannounced feature. The code was found while decompiling version 15.39.39.29.arm64 of the Google app for Android.

As usual, it doesn’t explicitly explain the feature but experts can deduce what the code describes. As the publication notes, the in-development feature may let you use Circle to Search for video search. Android Authority also spotted a related icon in the app. Unfortunately, the feature is in the early stages of development, so details are scarce.

Introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, Circle to Search is a Google feature. It uses AI to let you quickly search for anything on the screen, be it text, objects, or anything else. It has since been expanded to include music searches, QR code scanning, and a share tool to quickly share the selected portion with others. Google may now add support for video searches. More evidence should surface in the coming weeks.
