Google has now outlined what to expect from the upcoming I/O 2026 developer conference. As anticipated, it looks like artificial intelligence will once again be at the helm. Google I/O 2026 will take place on May 19 and May 20 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, with the main keynote kicking off at 10:00 AM PT on the first day.

Google I/O 2026 will feature Android 17, AI tools, and more

According to the session schedule, Google is putting a lot of focus on what it calls the “agentic era” of development. This means using AI systems that can handle repetitive coding tasks on their own. The company will also show new tools for automated workflows, better debugging, and easier app creation across platforms.

Android 17 will be one of the main highlights of the event. Google is expected to show faster performance, along with better camera and media features. It will also work better on bigger screens like foldables and tablets. A new “Adaptive Everywhere” feature should make it easier to move between phones, cars, and other connected devices.

Google will also share updates for Chrome and Google Play. Chrome should get some new features, while Google Play sessions will focus on helping developers grow their apps and make money. Along with the main keynote, there will be a developer keynote later on May 19, followed by several technical sessions. These will cover things like AI, Android updates, and modern web tools.

The whole event will be livestreamed, and Google will share more sessions and codelabs after it ends for developers who want to learn more. As always, you can check back on SammyGuru for live updates.
