Google appears to be gearing up to expand its Gemini AI subscription lineup. The company may introduce a new AI Ultra Lite plan that could sit between the current AI Pro and AI Ultra subscriptions. The existence of the upcoming tier came to light through an app teardown.

A cheaper alternative to the Gemini AI Ultra plan is probably on the way

While Gemini is free for basic tasks, Google also offers several paid AI plans bundling advanced features and higher usage limits. The entry-level AI Plus plan starts at $7.99 per month, while the AI Pro subscription costs $19.99 per month. The most expensive option is the AI Ultra plan, which costs $249.99 per month.

As you can see, there is a massive jump in pricing between AI Pro and AI Ultra. It looks like Google is now trying to fill this gap by introducing a new subscription tier. While digging through the macOS version of the Gemini app, the folks over at Android Authority discovered references to an AI Ultra Lite plan. It carries a possible codename, “Neon.”

While the details of the AI Ultra Lite plan remain under wraps, it could come in handy if you want some of AI Ultra’s features without paying the full price. It won’t be surprising if the new tier gets access to advanced tools like Deep Think reasoning mode. On the other hand, Project Genie might remain exclusive to the top-tier plan.

As for pricing, the AI Ultra Lite plan should cost somewhere between $50 and $150 per month. This could allow Google to compete with rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic, both of which offer $100 plans. There is no official word on its launch yet, but we may hear about it at the upcoming Google I/O 2026.

Meanwhile, Google is also reportedly preparing a dedicated page within the Gemini app. The page could help users track their token usage, giving insight into how much of their AI quota they have used.
