Google has confirmed it will once again host “The Android Show | I/O Edition” ahead of Google I/O 2026. The event is scheduled for May 19 and 20, and the company has revealed what you can expect during the show, which takes place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

Google says 2026 is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet

According to the announcement, Google will stream the Android-focused event on May 12 at 10 am PT, a week before Google I/O 2026. The stream will be available on YouTube, where an unlisted description went live, now pulled down. (h/t 9to5Google).

In that description, Google noted: “This is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet. Tune in to The Android Show | I/O Edition on Tuesday May 12 at 10 AM PT and be the first to take a look at what the future holds.” The company has not shared any additional details about what will be announced.

While Google hasn’t revealed any specifics, the wording stands out. The company doesn’t typically frame Android updates this strongly without a broader push across its ecosystem. That makes the May 12 showcase particularly important, as it will likely offer the first official look at how Android is evolving in 2026.
