Gemini Went Down for Some Users, but Fixes Are On The Way

If Gemini suddenly stopped working for you today, you weren’t alone. Google’s AI assistant experienced a partial outage affecting users across multiple platforms. Some people encountered strange error messages or saw their prompts fail to send altogether.
Gemini started throwing random errors out of nowhere
According to 9to5Google, users have been seeing errors such as “Something went wrong 1099” or “Something went wrong 1076“, which I also encountered today. Others experienced an even stranger bug. Specifically, pressing enter would simply put their prompt back into the text box instead of generating a response. In some cases, sending the prompt a second time would work.
Interestingly, the outage doesn’t always show error messages. In my friend’s case, Gemini simply gets stuck while generating a response, endlessly spinning without even producing an answer. Even refreshing the page or reopening the app may not help, which suggests the issue goes beyond “Something went wrong” errors many users have encountered today.
The outage appears to affect almost every platform, from Android to iOS and even the web. Workspace users using the Gemini side panel also started experiencing issues earlier in the morning.
Google’s Gemini chief acknowledged the issue
Fortunately, Google executive Josh Woodward says they are already deploying fixes and working to restore the service as quickly as possible.
Heads up: Gemini is currently experiencing an outage. We’re on it and will get everything back up ASAP. Some of the fixes are in, the rest coming very soon. Stay tuned for updates, and thanks for bearing with us!

That response suggests Google has already started restoring parts of the service, while additional fixes are still being deployed. If Gemini isn’t working properly for you right now, it might simply be worth waiting a bit and trying again later.
Gemini has grown into one of Google’s most important products. With hundreds of millions of users relying on it, even relatively small disruptions can cause problems for users.
