Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has been making waves recently — and for good reason. It is the slimmest and lightest book-style foldable the company has released to date. But there’s also a surprise feature, not in the device itself but in the retail box. The Korean firm includes a bundled charger, a rare perk for modern smartphones beyond the Galaxy ecosystem.

Samsung offers a charger with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition

The official product page for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition on Samsung’s Korean website confirms that the new foldable ships with a bundled charger. The retail box includes a 25W PD charger and a USB C-to-C cable. The company also offers a leather case in the box, making the Special Edition truly special. You don’t get these perks with most other Galaxy phones.

While a charging cable is standard, seeing a charger and a case bundled with a Galaxy phone is rare these days. Even the Galaxy Z Fold 6, priced nearly as high as the Special Edition, doesn’t come with an in-box charger. This inclusion is a pleasant surprise from Samsung — perhaps a nod to the target market for this new device, where skipping the charger might not be as well received.

If you aren’t already familiar, Samsung plans to release the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition only in South Korea and China. It is particularly targeting the latter market largely dominated by domestic players, most of which offer a free charger with their phones. The regular Fold 6 stands no chance there because of its bulky size, hence the Korean firm made a slimmer version.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sold out pretty quickly in Korea. It remains to be seen if Samsung can replicate its success in China. While the company isn’t selling the phone elsewhere, we have imported it from Korea. It should be here soon, so stay tuned for our hands-on experience. Hopefully, Samsung can make next year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 slimmer without removing the S Pen.
