Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will get seven years of software updates

Before placing your pre-order, you might have one final question. One of them could be, how many updates do the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 actually get? Samsung started offering seven years of software updates with the Galaxy S24 series in 2024. That marked a big shift from the previous four major OS upgrades we saw with the Galaxy S23 series.

Since then, all flagships like the Galaxy S series and Galaxy Z series have been eligible for seven years of updates. So, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are naturally included. The new foldables launch with Android 16-based One UI 8, which is one version ahead of what the Galaxy S25 series shipped with. That means the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will receive updates until 2031 or 2032, which suggests updates till Android 23 (One UI 15).

On top of that, Samsung is offering eight years of software updates for the Galaxy S25 Enterprise Edition. It’s very likely that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will receive the same treatment. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, the Enterprise Editions of both foldables could also be eligible for eight years of support. If so, that would extend updates through 2032 or 2033.
