Galaxy Watches are designed to stay on your wrist, and that makes sense because it’s the most practical and common place to wear a watch. It’s also ideal for taking health measurements. But what if you wore your smartwatch like one of those old pocket watches? Well, someone has already thought of that.

Someone turned a Galaxy Watch into a pocket watch, and it actually looks great

One Galaxy Watch user decided to take a much more unconventional approach. Instead of wearing the smartwatch on their wrist, they turned it into a modern pocket watch using just two inexpensive accessories.

Reddit user Puzzleheaded_Arm8472 shared their DIY project on r/GalaxyWatch. They explained that they only needed two items: a standard chain-link Galaxy Watch band and a traditional pocket watch chain. After removing most of the metal watch band, they attached the remaining links directly to the pocket watch chain.

The result? A Galaxy Watch that can be carried in your pocket just like a classic timepiece. It’s certainly an unusual way to use a smartwatch, but the finished product looks remarkably natural.

If you don’t need notifications and only want to check the time, there’s also a Galaxy Watch feature worth trying. It can significantly extend battery life, allowing your watch to last up to 20 days on a single charge.

Here’s how to enable it:

1. Open Settings on your Galaxy Watch.
2. Tap Battery.
3. Scroll down and select Watch only.
4. Tap Turn on.

Once it’s enabled, pressing the Power/Home button will display only the time. To turn the feature off, press and hold the Power/Home button.

Turns out, something similar already exists

Although the modification may seem unique, other Reddit users quickly pointed out that similar accessories already exist. Some accessory makers sell so-called “nurse bands” for Galaxy Watches and even Galaxy Fits, allowing healthcare professionals to clip their smartwatch or fitness tracker onto their clothing instead of wearing it on their wrist. They’re also easy to find on Amazon. For example, you can take a look at this one.

These accessories help workers comply with hygiene policies while keeping notifications within easy reach. The pocket watch mod takes the same idea a step further, giving the Galaxy Watch a vintage look that makes it feel more like a traditional mechanical timepiece. That’s especially true if you own a Galaxy Watch Classic model.

It’s a fun project for Galaxy Watch enthusiasts

Realistically, this isn’t something Samsung ever intended people to do. A Galaxy Watch still works best on your wrist, where it can continuously monitor your heart rate, workouts, sleep, and other health metrics.

Still, projects like this show just how flexible modern smartwatches have become. Whether it’s for style, nostalgia, or simply trying something different, it’s a creative way to give an older Galaxy Watch a whole new personality.
