Samsung is just weeks away from unveiling its next generation of Wear OS smartwatches, and the company has started preparing its software ecosystem. A new update for the Galaxy Wearable app suggests support for the Galaxy Watch 9 series and Watch Ultra 2 has been added ahead of their official debut. The devices should go official later this month.

Samsung updates Galaxy Wearable app ahead of Watch 9 and Ultra 2 launch

First spotted by X/@KAILASH61229293, Samsung recently released version 2.2.70.26060861 of its Galaxy Wearable app for Android. Rolling out through the Galaxy Store, the update appears relatively small. The changelog states that the company has optimized the app and improved its stability, ensuring smoother performance.

On top of it, the release notes mention support for “new devices.” While Samsung hasn’t named any product, the timing strongly suggests that the update prepares the app for the expected launch of the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2. Companion app updates like this are a common step before the company introduces new wearable hardware.

Samsung has these watches lined up for official launch at its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which could take place on July 22, 2026, and also bring new foldables. The devices should reach early buyers in the first week of August. Adding device support to Galaxy Wearable ahead of launch ensures users can pair and set up their new watches as soon as they become available.

The Galaxy Wearable app is also available on the Google Play Store, so those without a Samsung smartphone can also use Galaxy Watches. It serves as the main hub for managing your watch. If you plan to buy one of Samsung’s upcoming smartwatches, you may prepare early by installing the app on your phone. Existing Galaxy Watch users should also install the latest update when available.
