Samsung has been quite busy lately, especially with the One UI 8 beta rolling out quickly. Now, attention seems to have shifted to the Galaxy Watch lineup. In fact, the Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra are now receiving a security update in the US.

Galaxy Watch 5 series, Watch 7, Watch Ultra receive new security updates

As DroidLife notes, these security updates are currently available for the cellular variants of the Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra. According to Verizon, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are receiving the latest May security patch. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are being updated with the March security patch.

It’s worth noting that these updates are limited to the cellular models connected to Verizon in the US. Fortunately, Verizon has also provided the firmware versions included in this release, which you can check out below.

  • Galaxy Watch 5: R905USQU1CYCD (40mm), R915USQU1CYCD (44mm)
  • Galaxy Watch 5 Pro: R925USQU1CYCD
  • Galaxy Watch Ultra: L705USQS1AYE9
  • Galaxy Watch 7: L305USQS1AYE9 (40mm), L315USQS1AYE9 (44mm)

You can update to the latest firmware either directly on your Galaxy Watch or through the Galaxy Wearable app on your paired phone. To update using your phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app, go to Watch Settings > Watch software update, then tap Download and install. If the update doesn’t transfer over Bluetooth, try turning off Bluetooth and updating directly on the watch. For a faster update, ensure your watch is connected to Wi-Fi.

That said, anticipation is building for the upcoming Galaxy Watch refresh at the July Unpacked event. Samsung might debut the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic at the event.
