Qualcomm has announced the dates for this year’s Snapdragon Summit. The event may mark the debut of its next-gen flagship Snapdragon mobile chips. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 series is expected to use these processors for a next-level performance boost.

Qualcomm may unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series at its annual event

In a post on Instagram, Qualcomm revealed that it will host the Snapdragon Summit from September 22 to 24 in Maui, Hawaii. However, as of now, it is unclear what the company plans to announce at the event. Leaks suggest the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may go official there.

Both chips could use TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm node and feature Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU cores. The base Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 may feature an Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB of graphics cache. Meanwhile, the Pro variant could arrive with a powerful Adreno 850 GPU and 18MB of graphics cache.

Qualcomm previously hinted that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 series will continue to use its flagship Snapdragon processors. However, with the American chipmaker reportedly planning to unveil two premium flagship chips, it remains unclear how the Korean giant will distribute them across the 2027 Galaxy S lineup.

We can assume that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will at least feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. To justify the Ultra branding, Samsung is unlikely to compromise on performance by powering it with the standard 8 Elite Gen 6. It also won’t be surprising if the rumored Galaxy S27 Pro uses the same chip, as leaks suggest it will offer several premium features found on the Ultra model.

Meanwhile, the base Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ could use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. It is worth mentioning that, as part of the strategic partnership between Samsung and Qualcomm, Galaxy premium phones usually get a higher-clocked “For Galaxy” version of Snapdragon flagship chips. So, the Korean giant may once again secure exclusive versions of the upcoming Snapdragon chips for the Galaxy S27 series.
