Galaxy S25 Ultra: Specs and features

Samsung is making its 2025 flagships slimmer and narrower, featuring a dimension of 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm (6.41 x 3.06 x 0.32 in) — the S24 Ultra measures 162.3 x 79 x 8.6 mm (6.39 x 3.11 x 0.34 in). At 218 grams, the new model is also lighter than its predecessor (232 grams). Despite a narrower build, the phone has a bigger screen. This means Samsung has reduced the bezel width.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has slightly rounded corners instead of a boxy finish, with the company upgrading to the second-gen Corning Gorilla Armor glass at the front and back, offering enhanced anti-reflective properties. The handset features a titanium body with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The 6.9-inch display brings some notable upgrades. It is still an LTPO Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz variable refresh rate, HDR10+ support, QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3120 pixels), and an unchanged brightness of 2,600 nits. However, Samsung’s ProScaler technology enhances visuals, making images look sharper and more detailed.

There’s bad news too, unfortunately. Samsung has removed Bluetooth connectivity from the S Pen. You can no longer use Air Actions to control apps. Even the remote camera shutter doesn’t work, which is a bummer. Samsung seemingly did this to make the phone slimmer and lighter, but some wouldn’t like this trade-off for sure.

The phone runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally — there is no Exynos version. The octa-core processor features custom Oryon CPU cores with two prime cores running at 4.32GHz and six base cores at 3.53GHz. However, Samsung uses an overclocked version with a peak speed of 4.47GHz.

The new chip brings major CPU, GPU, and NPU upgrades over the S24 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It integrates the FastConnect 7900 system with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, and UWB (Ultra-Wideband) support. The chip also supports LPDDR5X DRAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Speaking of which, the Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in 12GB and 16GB RAM variants with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.

Galaxy S25 Ultra brings no major camera hardware upgrades

The latest Samsung flagship doesn’t bring many camera hardware upgrades. Of the five cameras, only one features a new sensor. We are talking about the 50MP ultrawide lens, which replaces the aging 12MP unit. It allegedly employs Samsung’s ISOCELL JN3 sensor. Expect a 120-degree field of view and dual-pixel PDAF (phase-detection autofocus) support.

The rest of the camera hardware remains unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra. You’ll get a 200MP primary shooter with multi-directional PDAF and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The two zoom cameras include a 50MP 5x unit and a 10MP 3x unit, both with PDAF and OIS. The Galaxy S25 Ultra also includes a laser autofocus sensor on the back.

On the front, Samsung offers an unchanged 12MP selfie shooter with dual-pixel PDAF. Coming to camera features, the device records 8K videos at up to 30fps (frames per second) with its rear cameras. The front camera can record 4K videos at 60fps. You get HDR10+ across both sets of cameras. The new flagship brings image quality enhancements thanks to new AI advancements and chipset improvements.

Seven years of OS and security updates

Samsung ships the Galaxy S25 Ultra with Android 15-based One UI 7. The device is eligible for seven years of OS and security updates, going all the way up to Android 22 and One UI 14 sometime in 2031 or 2032. You will get regular security patches all this while, with monthly releases expected for at least 4-5 years.

Other key Galaxy S25 Ultra specs include dual-SIM support with eSIM compatibility, AKG-tuned stereo speakers, an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, satellite connectivity, Samsung DeX, and Samsung Wireless DeX. The device is fueled by a 5000mAh battery that charges at speeds of up to 45W (wired). Wireless charging tops out at 15W, while you need a compatible case for Qi2 magnetic alignment and aattachments.

The official colorways include Titanium Black, Titanium SilverBlue, Titanium WhiteSilver, Titanium Gray, Titanium JetBlack, Titanium JadeGreen, and Titanium PinkGold, with the latter three being exclusive to Samsung’s official website. Prices remain unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, starting at $1,299.99. Pre-orders are now open.
