If you just purchased the Galaxy S25 Ultra or plan to buy it, investing in a Qi2-compatible magnetic case is a smart choice. It ensures perfect magnetic alignment, allowing for faster wireless charging. Without such a case, charging speeds are significantly reduced, as confirmed by tests.
Grab a Qi2 case for your Galaxy S25 Ultra to get fast wireless charging
Samsung added Qi2 support to the Galaxy S25 series (Qi2.1 actually), but you need a compatible case to take advantage of its features. A recent test by @TechOutonYT on X showed that using a Qi2-certified Spigen magnetic case on their brand-new Galaxy S25 Ultra significantly improved wireless charging performance compared to charging without a case.
Their phone was charging wirelessly at 20W speeds when the battery level was at 67%. This suggests the Galaxy S25 Ultra supports up to 25W wireless charging with a Qi2 charger and a compatible case. When they removed the case, the charging speed dropped significantly.
You may get slightly faster charging if you carefully position the phone over the charger for optimal magnetic alignment. However, any movement would throw it out of the fast wireless charging zone. If you regularly charge your phone wirelessly, investing in a Qi2-certified case for your Galaxy S25 Ultra might be a good idea.
Of course, with a Qi2 case, you get support for magnetic accessories like a wallet, so that’s an added benefit. The downside is that you lose it all if you switch to a non-magnetic case. Ideally, Samsung should have offered built-in magnets for Qi2. However, that would also make the phone heavier. The company had to make a choice, and it decided to take the easier route.
Alongside a bunch of third-party options, Samsung offers an official magnetic case for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as well as the Galaxy S25 and S25+. You can buy those from the links below.
