Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The latter will lead the line with an incredible set of specs and cutting-edge AI features. But the former two are no slouch — they are equally impressive in their respective categories. Each model is designed to cater to different user needs, ensuring something for everyone. We have compiled a roundup of the rumored specs and features for the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
Galaxy S25 and S25+ specs
Like the Ultra, the Galaxy S25 and S25+ are expected to be slimmer than their predecessors. Rumors say the former will be 7.2mm thick, while the Plus is 7.3mm — all three modes are 0.4mm thinner. The devices are also lighter and narrower. They feature 6.2-inch and 6.6-inch screens, both LTPO Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
Samsung is unlikely to upgrade to the M14 OLED tech, keeping last year’s M13 solution. However, the devices are expected to see a brightness boost from 2,600 nits to 3,000 nits. The Galaxy S25+ should offer a QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3120 pixels), while the base model should feature an FHD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) display. Expect Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 or newer panels on the front and back.
Both models should boast anti-reflective screen properties, an Aluminum Armor body, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ will lack S Pen support and miss out on a titanium frame available on the Ultra. The latter also features Gorilla Armor 2 screen protection.
The entire lineup runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally. Samsung doesn’t offer an Exynos version anywhere. The 3nm octa-core chip uses custom Oryon CPU cores featuring two prime cores at 4.32GHz and six performance cores at 3.53GHz. However, the new flagships are likely to run an overclocked version of this chipset, with a peak speed of 4.47GHz.
Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC delivers a major CPU, GPU, and NPU performance boost. The integrated FastConnect 7900 system enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, and UWB (Ultra-Wideband) connectivity. Hopefully, Samsung won’t restrict Wi-Fi 7 access via software — it restricted Wi-Fi 7 on the Galaxy S24 and S24+ because the Exynos 2400 chip doesn’t support it. Leaks suggest the base Galaxy S25 will lack UWB too.
A new camera may be on the way
Rumors suggest Samsung will introduce a new 50MP ultrawide lens on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, replacing the aging 12MP unit. It features Samsung’s ISOCELL JN3 sensor with a 120-degree field of view and dual-pixel PDAF (phase-detection autofocus) support. However, there are contrasting reports about its availability on the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
While some suggest Samsung will offer the new ultrawide camera across the lineup, others hint at it remaining exclusive to the Ultra. Meanwhile, some other rumors claim a new selfie camera for the smaller two models. So there may be a new camera on the way, but we are unsure about which lens will get an upgrade.
The 50MP primary camera and 10MP 3x zoom lens should remain unchanged on the Galaxy S25 and S25+. However, the new flagships will benefit from AI advancements and upgraded software processing, potentially improving the image quality. Samsung is expected to introduce several new AI-powered camera features and enhancements.
The Galaxy S25 and S25+ run Android 15-based One UI 7.1 out of the box. Samsung should provide seven years of OS and security updates to both models. Users will receive new features up to Android 22 and One UI 14 sometime in 2031 or 2032. This is in addition to regular security patches all this while, with the devices likely to receive monthly updates for at least 4-5 years.
These phones also offer dual-SIM support with eSIM compatibility and feature AKG-tuned stereo speakers. Additionally, you get an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, satellite connectivity, Samsung DeX, and Samsung Wireless DeX. The base model may pack a 4,000mAh battery with 25W charging, while the Plus could get a 4,900mAh battery with 45W charging. We also expect Qi2/MagSafe compatibility via a case.
Samsung may sell the Galaxy S25 and S25+ in Icy Blue, Mint, Navy, Silver Shadow, Blue Black, Coral Red, and Pink Gold colors. The latter three will be exclusive to its official website. Prices aren’t available yet, but leaks suggest a hike in most global markets — the Galaxy S24 started at $799.99 in the US. Stick around for the official launch on January 22.
