A few days ago, we reported that the Galaxy S25 series would soon get the Media Player in Live Notifications. That update is now rolling out to some users, confirming the feature’s now part of the April 2025 security update for Galaxy S25 series, as tipped by Tarun Vats.

April 2025 security update brings media player, smoother charging animations and more

While the update isn’t available to everyone just yet, someone else also confirmed receiving it. We checked our own units and can confirm it hasn’t arrived for us at the time of writing. Still, the early rollout gives us a look at what’s included.

Though officially released as the April 2025 security update for the Galaxy S25 series, the update includes more than just security improvements. It brings new features, many of which were previously available on the Galaxy S24 or through the One UI 7.0 beta. Their appearance in this build confirms their place in the stable One UI 7.0 update that will roll out to all eligible Galaxy devices.

New additions include a refreshed charging animation and an updated Now Bar animation for the media player in the status bar. Though we haven’t been able to test the update ourselves, we can assume there are several subtle animation improvements throughout. In addition to feature enhancements, the update may also address a few bugs, specifically issues affecting the Location and Mobile Data toggles in the Quick Panel. The firmware version for the update is S938BXXU2AYD3, and it weighs in at roughly 600MB.

If you’re using a Galaxy S25 device, you can check for availability by heading to Settings > Software update. It may take some time to reach all users, but the rollout confirms that it’s almost here. Given that the One UI 7.0 stable rollout is on the horizon, it wouldn’t take much time.
