Samsung’s powerful photo editing app, Galaxy Enhance-X, is facing a frustrating issue. The app appears to have entered an update loop, where it demands an update, but no new version is available in the Galaxy Store. Some users have also reported frequent crashes, severely affecting the user experience. The good news is that Samsung is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

Galaxy Enhance-X hit with a frustrating update loop issue

A few days ago, Samsung rolled out a major update for Galaxy Enhance-X, introducing several new features. However, this update (version 16.3.00.40) is currently only available for the Galaxy S26 series. Other devices are still on an older version, even those running One UI 8.5 Beta. It appears Samsung did release the update for all compatible models, but it messed up something during the process.

User reports on Samsung’s community forums confirm a widespread update loop issue with Galaxy Enhance-X. I verified the issue on my Galaxy S25 Ultra running Beta 10. When opening the app, it shows an “Update” prompt, with the button redirecting to the app’s listing on the Galaxy Store. However, no update is actually available there. In the worst cases, the app crashes immediately after opening.

According to a Samsung community moderator, version 16.0.4.1 of Galaxy Enhance-X fixes this issue (I am using version 16.0.02.7 on my S25 Ultra). This update isn’t available for me yet, but it should show up in the coming days. Hopefully, Samsung will soon follow up with the big new update rolled out for Galaxy S26 users last month. Meanwhile, those waiting for the official update may try the following workaround:

  • Long-press the Galaxy Enhance-X app icon
  • Tap the “i” (App info) icon
  • Go to Storage
  • Tap Clear cache
  • Then tap Clear data

This resets the app and can break the update loop or stop the crashing issue. Keep in mind that clearing data may remove any saved preferences within the app. Stay tuned for further updates.
