Exynos or Snapdragon? Samsung Still Weighing Its Options for Galaxy S26 Series

Samsung still deciding between Exynos 2600 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy S26 series

The revelation came during the company’s Q3 2025 earnings call, where Samsung it is still evaluating its next flagship’s application processor (AP) options. That means both the Exynos 2600 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 remain in play. While Samsung didn’t directly name either processor, leaks and rumors have long linked the Exynos 2600 with the Galaxy S26.

According to Business Korea, Samsung said that “AP evaluation is currently in progress” and that it’s “difficult to confirm the finalization for next year’s flagship lineup“. Samsung also reiterated that it has “clear criteria for what we want to offer customers through flagship products.”

It’s possible that Samsung genuinely hasn’t finalized its chipset plans yet. Or it could simply be keeping details under wraps for strategic reasons. After all, the company rarely confirms hardware decisions this early. The last time Samsung split its flagship lineup between Exynos and Snapdragon chips was in 2024, so a repeat wouldn’t be entirely surprising.

For now, Samsung fans will have to wait and see which chip powers the Galaxy S26. Whether it’s Exynos or Snapdragon, the decision will surely influence the phone’s performance. The Exynos 2600 could help Samsung cut production costs and integrate more in-house hardware. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 would likely deliver stronger performance and broader appeal in key markets.
