Galaxy S24, Fold 6 and Flip 6 grab the December update in the US
While all the focus is on Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta update, the company is simultaneously rolling out the latest security patch to eligible Galaxy devices worldwide. The rollout began last week with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 kicking off the proceedings. The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra recently joined the party.
Initially, Samsung updated these devices to the December SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in its home country, South Korea. It has since released the new security patch in Europe and some other regions. The US units are also now grabbing the update, ensuring protection against the latest security threats.
As of this writing, the December update is available for the carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 6 units with the firmware build number F956USQS2AXKF. That for the Flip model is F741USQS2AXKF. The locked Galaxy S24 units are receiving the build number S92*USQS4AXKD. Their unlocked counterparts should soon pick up the latest security fixes.
While the Galaxy S24 FE has also received the December SMR in some international markets, its US version has yet to join the fun. Hopefully, Samsung won’t delay the rollout much longer for the Fan Edition model. It gets Auto Blocker enhancements alongside this month’s security patch.
Samsung is rolling out 44 vulnerability patches to Galaxy smartphones and tablets with its December security update. Six of those are critical Android OS patches coming from Google. The company will soon update more devices to the latest SMR. It is also expected to expand the One UI 7.0 beta program in the coming days.
