The December 2024 security patch is now rolling out to more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are receiving the latest security updates. Samsung has already released the patch for the sixth-gen foldables, as well as the Galaxy S24 and S23 lineups.
Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Fold SE grab the December update
A couple of weeks ago, Samsung released the first software update for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE). It brought the November security patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), and a few other enhancements. The sleek new foldable is now picking up its second update, introducing the December SMR.
As of this writing, the December security update for the Galaxy Z Fold SE is available in South Korea, one of the only two markets where it is sold — the other is China. The update comes with the firmware build number F958NKSS2AXKC. The OTA (over the air) package weighs just under 375MB. The device gets nothing more than this month’s security fixes.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 are also initially receiving the new security patch in Samsung’s homeland. The new build number for the Fold is F946NKSS4DXKF and the Flip is F731NKSS4DXKF. Like the SE, the update is all about the latest security fixes with no additional changes in tow.
Samsung’s December SMR patches over 40 vulnerabilities, including at least six critical Android OS flaws. Samsung will soon update all of these devices to the new security patch globally. As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S24, S23, Fold 6, and Flip 6 have already received this update in several parts of the world.
Additionally, Samsung is expected to expand its One UI 7.0 beta program to more Galaxy devices in the coming weeks. The Android 15-based update brings tons of new features and enhancements to Galaxy devices.
