Circle to Search on your Galaxy phone may soon help you find music. Google is working on adding audio search capabilities to this AI tool. It will allow you to search for the music playing on your device or a nearby device. The new feature can identify songs even when you hum the track.
You could soon identify music using Circle to Search on your Galaxy
Debuted with the Galaxy S24 series, Circle to Search is an AI-powered Google feature. It lets you run a Google search for anything on the screen. You can long-press the home button to activate it and then select the test or object on the screen to search for it. No need to leave the app, open Google and type out your search query, or use reverse search to find matching images or objects.
Google has since expanded this feature to non-Samsung Android phones. It is now readying a big update for Circle to Search. An “Audio search” function was first spotted in June, and Android Authority recently discovered more information about it. The publication could activate the new Circle to Search function on the Google app beta version 15.32.36, revealing how it works.
You’d normally activate the AI tool and then select the new “music” button next to the search bar, sandwiched by the translate button. Tapping this button initiates a “listening” overlay (you will be shown an alert about the new function when using it for the first time). Through this overlay, Google listens for music playing on the device or ambiently, including a human humming a song.
The app will then run a search for the identified song. This function can be handy when trying to identify music on a social media video. Google may roll out the new feature to users with an upcoming update for its search app. Galaxy devices should be one of the first to receive this Circle to Search upgrade. Samsung has already announced plans to roll out this AI tool to mid-range models.
