Samsung has released a new update for its Camera Assistant app. Version 3.0.00.2 of the app adds a couple of new features alongside One UI 7.0 support — the Galaxy S25 series runs the new version out of the box. It also confirms that the Galaxy A56 will ship with One UI 7.0.

Camera Assistant updated for One UI 7.0 as the Galaxy S25 starts shipping

Camera Assistant is a Samsung app designed to add extra features to the stock camera app. It offers additional tools and customizations depending on the hardware and software capabilities of your Galaxy phone. The latest update for the app adds support for external storage when recording videos.

If you plan to record a long video file on your phone, you can use Camera Assistant to have the recording saved directly to an external storage device connected via the USB port. Your phone will bypass the internal storage, saving space for other files. Additionally, you can now unlock HDR10+ video recording with the new Camera Assistant.

Both of these features will be available on flagship Galaxy devices running One UI 7.0. As said earlier, the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra ship with the new version. The Galaxy S24 series currently runs the beta version and doesn’t support the new Camera Assistant features. They should be available following the stable One UI 7.0 rollout.

Speaking of which, Samsung is expected to start pushing One UI 7.0 to supported older models in early February, starting with the Galaxy S24 series. Meanwhile, it is gearing up to launch more devices with One UI 7.0, with the Galaxy A56 being one of them. The Galaxy A36 and A26 should also ship with the new version.

These mid-range devices are expected to go official in March, but only the A56 will support the Camera Assistant app. More details should be available closer to their official launch.
