PSA: Buy Plex Lifetime Pass Now If You Don’t Want to Pay $500 Extra

If you want to avoid paying hundreds of dollars more for Plex Pass, you should act right away. Plex is increasing the price of its Lifetime Pass from $249.99 to $749.99, a huge $500 jump. The new price will take effect on July 1, 2026, at 12:01 AM UTC, so you only have less than two days to lock in the current price.

Plex is tripling the price of its Lifetime Pass

In May 2026, Plex first announced its plan to triple the price of its Lifetime Pass. As the deadline approaches, the company is also reminding users through a banner on its website. The description reads “LAST CHANCE: Get a Lifetime Plex Pass before the price goes up. Lock in a new subscription at the current price before July 1, 2026.”

The good news is that the increase only affects new Lifetime Pass purchases. This means if you are an existing Lifetime subscriber, you don’t need to pay extra to retain the benefits. There is no change to the monthly or annual subscription pricing after July 1.

Plex said it even considered removing the Lifetime Plex Pass in the past. This is because recurring subscriptions help support long-term development. However, the company kept the option, as many users still find it valuable. “So instead of retiring it, we’re keeping it available at a price that reflects the real, ongoing value of the software we’re committed to building and maintaining for years to come,” Plex wrote in a blog post.

For the uninitiated, Plex is a media server platform that lets you manage and stream your personal collection of movies, photos, and more. Simply put, you can store your own files on a computer or hard drive and stream them through the Plex app on any devices, like smart TVs, phones, and tablets.

While you can use Plex for free, the Plex Pass offers a host of premium features. Some of these include hardware transcoding, Skip Intro & Skip Credits, and remote streaming for all users.
