After a few weeks of delay, Samsung has officially released the fourth One UI 8.5 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series. As expected, the Beta 4 update is focused on bug fixes and functional refinements rather than new features. The company is unlikely to introduce anything new until the stable One UI 8.5 release alongside the Galaxy S26 series.

One UI 8.5 Beta 4 arrives for Galaxy S25 series

Samsung’s latest One UI 8.5 beta release for the Galaxy S25 series carries firmware version ZZAL (h/t X/@tarunvats33). The update weighs around 1.5GB for the Ultra model, with similar file sizes expected for the S25 and S25+ (exact size varies depending on the region). The security patch level has been boosted to February 5, 2026.

The official changelog confirms bug fixes in the Phone app, addressing search history taps, call handoff issues with Bluetooth headsets, and problems when pasting numbers from call links. Users also get improvements to AI Select, which now closes properly after copying content.

Additionally, One UI 8.5 Beta 4 contains a fix for a lock screen issue that caused the clock to move down on its own. Users can also expect general stability improvements, with rumors pointing to smoother animations and better system fluidity. An update for Bixby is likely too, as Samsung has been internally testing the Perplexity-powered Bixby for a while now.

Unfortunately, most Galaxy users can’t access these changes just yet. The One UI 8.5 beta program is only available for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra in the US, the UK, India, Germany, Poland, and South Korea. There’s little indication that Samsung plans to expand the beta program beyond these devices or markets.

Looking ahead, the stable One UI 8.5 release should debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series. The new flagships arrive later this month, with sales starting sometime in March. Once the S26 lineup is official, Samsung should begin rolling out the update to other eligible Galaxy devices.
