Last week, Samsung released the March security update for its past three generations of foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Fold 5, Flip 5, Fold 4, and Flip 4 received the new security patch in Korea and select other markets. The update is now available widely, including the US and Europe. A global rollout is just around the corner now.

Samsung’s March security update rolling out widely for all recent foldables

The aforementioned six Galaxy foldables first received the March SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in Samsung’s home country, South Korea. The company has now gradually rolled out the update in additional regions. We can confirm its availability in Europe, the US, and more markets.

In the US, the March security update is available for both carrier-locked and unlocked variants of these foldables. The new firmware build number for the locked Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 is AYB3, while their unlocked counterparts are picking up the build number AYB2. All Fold 5 and Flip 5 are getting the build number DYB2, while it’s GYB2 for the Fold 4 and Flip 4.

The European units are receiving identical build numbers, though they slightly vary for some models. Regardless, the changelog is the same everywhere. This update only brings the March security patch, which contains over 50 vulnerability fixes. At least 11 of those are critical Android OS flaws, while a handful of the patches address Galaxy-specific flaws.

Samsung has already rolled out these security fixes to a bunch of other phones. More will get the update in the coming days. Samsung is also expanding its One UI 7.0 beta program to more devices. After rolling out the first ebta update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 last week, it is readying the beta update for the Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy S23 series, and Galaxy A55. The rollout begins later this month.
