Do you find it inconvenient to switch between iPhones and Android phones using the current methods? Well, there’s some good news. Apple and Google are now teaming up to make the process much simpler. The two companies are developing a new method that will let users move their data between devices easily than ever before.

Apple and Google team up to make switching between iPhones and Android phones easier

Right now, switching from one platform to another requires particular apps. Apple’s Move to iOS app allows Android users to move to an iPhone. Similarly, Google’s Android Switch helps people move from an iPhone to an Android phone. While these apps can transfer basic information, many users still face problems as some data types don’t move at all.

With the new method, Apple and Google aim to fix all of that. It will offer transfer tools during the setup process for a new device, eliminating the need to use separate apps. Simply put, when you set up a new iPhone or Android phone, you may see a simple option to move your old data. More importantly, the new system will add more functionality, allowing users to transfer data types that were previously not possible.

Google recently released an early version of the feature in the Android Canary 2512 build, according to 9to5Google. That means eligible Pixel devices can already try out this new system. On the Apple side, the same functionality may show up in the upcoming iOS 26 developer beta. However, it’s unclear when both companies will release the feature to the public.

This comes at a time when both companies are facing increasing regulatory pressure worldwide. By improving the switching process, they aim to make it easier for people to move between two platforms. More details are expected to surface as enthusiasts dig into the latest Canary build and test the feature.
