Another Leak Hints at New 50MP 3.5x Zoom Camera for Galaxy S25 Slim

The rumored Galaxy S25 Slim is shaping up to be an exciting addition to Samsung’s flagship lineup. A recent leak has unveiled its alleged specs, which look promising. Most notably, the company seems to have ditched the aging 3x zoom camera on its S series flagships. The Slim model may not debut alongside the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup in January.

Galaxy S25 Slim may sport a new 50MP zoom camera

Over the past few weeks, numerous leaks have hinted at a powerful camera setup for the Galaxy S25 Slim. A new report from X user @Gadgetsdata reaffirms that. If these leaks turn out to be accurate, the slim new flagship from Samsung will sport a new 50MP zoom camera.

While the company introduced a 50MP 5x lens on the Galaxy S24 Ultra this year, it still uses a 10MP sensor for the 3x solution. However, leaks say the Galaxy S25 Slim will feature a 50MP 3.5x zoom camera. It employs the Korean firm’s in-house ISOCELL JN5 sensor. Announced in June this year, this 1/2.76-inch sensor boasts 2x in-sensor zoom.

Interestingly, leaks so far suggest the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature the old 3x zoom camera rather than the new one the Slim model is supposed to get. Unless it is a really awful lens, Samsung may have to deal with a lot of criticism for not upgrading the Ultra next year.

The zoom camera on the Slim will be paired with a 200MP primary shooter, which appears to be a new sensor too. The alleged ISOCELL HP5 sensor has an optical format of 1/1.56 inches, making it smaller than the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 1/1.3-inch 200MP camera. It’s unclear if the Galaxy S25 Ultra will use the new sensor or keep its predecessor’s main camera.

Additionally, the Galaxy S25 Slim is rumored to get a 50MP ultrawide lens. Once again, Samsung uses the ISOCELL JN5 sensor. Other S25 models, including the Ultra, should also get this camera. The Galaxy S24 series uses a 12MP sensor for the ultrawide camera.

The Galaxy S25 Slim could share some similarities with the Plus model, including a 6.66-inch display. Its battery capacity is expected to be in the 4,700-5,000mAh range. The phone could support 45W charging and may launch in the second quarter of 2025. Samsung may tease the device at Unpacked next month, though. A leaked banner recently showed four phones rather than three. Stay tuned for more updates.
