Motorcycle riders using Android Auto can now access a specialized navigation experience. Sygic, an automotive navigation and GPS app, brings its Motorbike Mode to Android Auto (and Apple CarPlay). This lets riders get motorcycle-specific routing features right from the dashboards.

Motorcycle dashboards get smarter with Sygic’s Motorbike Mode

When it comes to motorcycle navigation, regular driving apps often lack the features riders truly need. Thanks to Motorbike Mode, an add-on for the Sygic GPS Navigation app, riders get a dedicated interface that shows ride-specific data. However, the mode was not available through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, limiting its use on motorcycle displays.

Thankfully, Sygic has now expanded Motorbike Mode to these two platforms with version 26.4. This allows riders to use the app’s motorcycle-specific navigation on compatible motorcycles’ built-in screens. The feature plays nicely with a bunch of popular touring and adventure motorcycles. These include the Honda Gold Wing, Honda Africa Twin, Honda NT1100, and selected Harley-Davidson touring models. The good thing is that it also supports aftermarket Android Auto and Apple CarPlay displays.

“We wanted to create a navigation experience that truly reflects how motorcyclists ride and what information matters most to them. Bringing Motorbike Mode to motorcycle displays is the next natural step in that vision and a direct response to what riders have been asking for,” said Lukas Dermek, Head of Product at Sygic.

Speaking of the features, Motorbike Mode offers a dedicated navigation view with motorcycle-focused tools. The mode includes a lean angle indicator that shows the motorcycle’s left and right lean. It displays the elevation profile of the planned route. Riders can also check weather information, including the temperature at the destination.

Furthermore, Motorbike Mode offers a Twisty Route option that helps riders find roads with more curves. Other features include pulsing warning, map color customization, speed limit information, and Lock mode to prevent accidental screen touches during riding.
