Google has removed the paywall from one of Gemini’s smartest AI features. Now, eligible users in the US can access the AI assistant’s personalized image creation for free. This allows more users to generate AI images using information from connected Google apps.

You can now create personalized AI images in Gemini for free

Gemini can deliver tailored responses to your queries with Personal Intelligence, a feature that links with your Google apps. Based on this capability, the assistant’s personalized image creation tool eliminates the need to write long, detailed descriptions and manually upload a reference photo.

However, at launch, only Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers could enjoy the feature. The company has now expanded access by making it free, though only for eligible Gemini users in the US.

Google said Personal Intelligence connects with Nano Banana and Google Photos. As a result, you can create images that reflect your tastes and lifestyles using details from connected Google apps. This means you don’t need to explain personal information, as Gemini can automatically access relevant context to create personalized images.

For example, you can type a simple prompt like “Design my dream house,” and Gemini will generate an image based on your tastes. Likewise, when you type “Create an illustration of me and my favorite things,” the assistant can use photos from Google Photos. This removes the need to upload images along with the prompt.

If Gemini doesn’t get it right the first time, you can simply refine the result with another prompt. You can also tap the “+” icon and select a different photo from your Google Photos library as a reference.

The best thing is that you remain in control of your data. Connecting your Google apps to Gemini is completely optional. This means you can decide whether to grant the AI assistant access to services such as Google Photos.
