Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 could be much more compact than many people expect. A reliable tipster has shared a true-to-scale size comparison between the upcoming wide foldable and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The image reveals that the Fold 8 has a surprisingly compact footprint despite offering a much larger display when unfolded.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 may not feel like carrying a tablet
At first glance, many people assume Samsung’s book-style foldable is dramatically larger than a conventional flagship. But that’s not true. When folded, the devices are pretty much the same size as a Galaxy S Ultra. Even at their unfolded state, the Fold lineup doesn’t feel massive. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is Samsung’s first wide foldable, looks even more compact than the existing models.
The image, shared by Ice Universe on X, allegedly accurately reflects the physical size of the Fold 8 and Galaxy S26 Ultra. When placed side by side, the foldable looks noticeably shorter and only slightly wider than the Ultra when folded. This is despite it featuring a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable inner screen.
Recent leaks have also suggested the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could weigh around 201 grams, potentially making it the lightest Fold ever released. If that rumor proves accurate, the combination of a lighter chassis and a relatively compact folded form factor could make the device feel much closer to a conventional flagship than a foldable.
