One UI 9 Brings Key Upgrades to Auto Blocker Security

Samsung’s One UI 9 beta brings two key upgrades to the Auto Blocker. The security feature gets a reporting dashboard and improved control over USB connections. These additions will provide users with visibility of blocked threats and stronger protection against data access.
Samsung improves its Auto Blocker experience in One UI 9
Samsung has recently released its Android 17-based One UI 9 beta for the latest Galaxy S26 series. The company has already highlighted the key features and improvements of the latest software update through the changelog. Now, more improvements are coming to light as enthusiasts continue to explore the build.
Android Authority spotted some changes to Auto Blocker, a security feature on Galaxy devices that protects against cyber threats. The feature reduces security risks by blocking suspicious activities such as installing unknown apps. In the latest One UI 9 beta, Auto Blocker gets a new Security Report dashboard.
This report shows users a history of blocked apps over the past week. A monthly view is also available, displaying trends in graphs. As a result, you get a clear idea of the threats your device has faced and how often Auto Blocker has taken steps. The company basically aims to offer transparency instead of performing actions silently in the background.
Apart from the new reporting dashboard, One UI 9 brings USB connection block ability in Maximum Restrictions. In this mode, the system blocks other devices from connecting to your lock phone via USB. “This can prevent others from accessing your data if they have physical access to your phone anytime,” the description reads.
In One UI 8.5, Auto Blocker is limited to blocking commands sent over USB connections. Now, this protection has evolved to fully restrict USB access. It is worth mentioning that Samsung first introduced the USB blocking feature in 2024, likely bundled with a security patch. However, the company later removed it, and now it’s back in the latest One UI 9 beta.
While the new Auto Blocker upgrades are currently part of the beta build, they should also arrive in the final version of One UI 9. The stable version could debut alongside the next-generation Galaxy foldable smartphones, expected in July 2026. Heads up: we have now opened mystery box registrations if you plan to buy any of the upcoming foldables.
