YouTube Quietly Raises Premium Prices Across All Plans

It looks like YouTube is increasing the price of Premium subscription plans in the US. It marks the first hike in nearly three years. The change is now live for new subscribers, while existing users will start seeing the updated pricing from June 2026.

YouTube Premium gets first price hike in nearly 3 years

First reported by 9to5Google, YouTube Premium’s Individual plan now costs $15.99 per month, up from $13.99, a $2 increase. The Family plan has jumped to $26.99 from $22.99, marking a $4 hike. The Lite plan increases from $7.99 to $8.99, while YouTube Music Premium is also going up slightly from $10.99 to $11.99 per month.

Google has not made a big public announcement yet, but users have started receiving email notifications about the changes. The updated pricing is already visible on the YouTube Premium sign-up page. For current subscribers, the higher charges will apply from their June billing cycle.

According to YouTube, the price hike is aimed at maintaining the overall experience and supporting creators and artists on the platform. The company says Premium will continue to offer ad-free viewing, background playback, and access to a large music library through YouTube Music.

Compared to rivals like Netflix, which has also raised prices recently, YouTube’s changes are in line with industry trends. Even so, users will have to decide if the Premium features are worth the extra cost. For those looking to save, the annual Individual plan offers a slight discount, and the Family plan remains the most cost-effective option per user if shared across multiple members.
