Samsung announced the Galaxy Book 6 series at CES 2026, and the lineup went on sale in the US about a month ago. In a surprising move, the company has already raised prices for both the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra and Galaxy Book 6 Pro. At the same time, Samsung has quietly reduced its education discount, cutting it from 20% to 10%.

Samsung quietly bumps Galaxy Book 6 Ultra price to $2,899

The Galaxy Book 6 Ultra now starts at $2,899, while the Galaxy Book 6 Pro carries a starting price of $1,799 (via @TheGalox_). At launch, these models were priced at $2,449 and $1,599, respectively. That is a steep jump in a very short time. The higher-end Galaxy Book 6 Ultra configuration now goes up to $3,599. A similarly equipped Galaxy Book 6 Pro can cost as much as $2,449.

There is also less incentive for students and educators. Samsung previously offered up to 20% off through its education program, but that has now been reduced to 10%. This effectively makes the new laptops even more expensive for buyers who relied on those discounts.

The price hike is not limited to Samsung’s laptops. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has also become more expensive in the US. Both the 512GB and 1TB variants of the foldable now cost $80 more than before. All of this suggests a broader pricing adjustment across Samsung’s premium lineup.

Samsung hasn’t provided an official explanation for these sudden increases, especially so soon after launch. However, one likely factor could be ongoing memory chip shortages, which continue to impact production costs across the industry. If that is the case, these higher prices may stick around for a while, and buyers might not see relief anytime soon.
