One UI 7.0 Beta Faces Longer Delays as Samsung Seeks Perfection

by | Sep 11, 2024 | News, One UI

Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta program may still be a while off. According to a moderator on Samsung’s official community forums, the company needs more time to fine-tune the beta software and its new features before releasing it to the public. The goal is to ensure the first beta build is as stable as possible, which has resulted in delays. Unfortunately, no timeline is available yet.

Samsung takes time for a smoother One UI 7.0 experience, delays beta

Samsung was initially rumored to launch One UI 7.0 beta programs at the end of July, but not to be. The beta update didn’t arrive in August and a September release looks unlikely too. According to reports, the Korean firm is taking longer than usual because of various reasons. For one, One UI 7.0 is a massive update, arguably the biggest in the One UI history. It brings too many changes.

The company has redesigned app icons, revamped UI elements, and improved system animations and transitions for a significant visual upliftment. The update also brings several new features and camera enhancements, with a host of new Galaxy AI tools in the pipeline. Samsung wants to ensure the smooth functioning of everything before opening up the new version to the public.

Of course, beta builds are usually a little buggy and unstable. But this time, Samsung aims to make it as bug-free and stable as possible. It wants to fix all quirky bugs internally so beta users get a reliable One UI 7.0 experience from day one. The company’s mobile business head TM Roh is reportedly overseeing the development himself. His drive for perfection has delayed the One UI 7.0 beta release.

On the bright side, Samsung internally fixing more obvious bugs means it may not have to release many beta builds. The company could quickly wrap up the beta program and roll out the stable update. Last year, it began One UI 6.0 beta in mid-August but a wider public release didn’t arrive until November. Maybe that won’t be the case this year, we shall find out in the coming weeks.
