After what has been a long wait, Samsung has officially launched its first PCIe 5.0 SSDs, the 9100 Pro series, in the US. Following a short release in India, these high-performance storage drives are now available for purchase in the US, delivering faster speeds and more storage capacity than ever before.
Samsungโs 9100 Pro series SSDs are now available in the US
The 9100 Pro comes in two versions: one with a heatsink and one without. It offers 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB storage options, with an 8TB model expected later this year. Built using Samsungโs V-NAND TLC (V8) and a custom controller, these SSDs nearly double the speed of the previous 990 Pro. With read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of 13,400 MB/s, the 9100 Pro is one of the fastest SSDs available. The Heatsink version provides better cooling, making it ideal for extended high-performance use.

Samsung showcased the 9100 Pro at the ongoing NVIDIAโs GPU Technology Conference (GTC). The company took the opportunity of event to emphasize its role in AI workloads, gaming, and high-end content creation. The SSD also boasts up to 49% better power efficiency than its predecessor, thanks to an advanced 5nm controller. The prices for the Samsung 9100 Pro series start at $199.99 for 1TB, with the 2TB and 4TB models costing $299.99 and $549.99. The 9100 Pro with Heatsink variants are available for $20 extra, and the 8TB model will arrive in the second half of 2025.
