After T-Mobile, Verizon has announced satellite messaging services for its customers. Verizon subscribers with a Galaxy S25 or Pixel 9 phone can send text messages to anyone via satellite when not connected to cellular networks. This feature is now rolling out nationwide and will be available for all eligible users within the next couple of weeks.

Satellite connectivity is a relatively new addition to smartphones, enabling communication even in remote areas without cellular coverage. By connecting directly to satellites, your phone allows you to send text messages to loved ones and inform them of your whereabouts. More importantly, you can reach emergency services if you lose your way or require urgent help.
From phone makers and chip designers to wireless carriers, the entire industry is embracing satellite connectivity for seamless communication anywhere. Verizon is the latest to join the movement, introducing satellite texting capabilities for users with a Samsung Galaxy S25 or Google Pixel 9 phone in the US.
“We are committed to powering the lives of our customers. Verizon’s network is America’s largest and already covers 99% of the places where people live, work, and play. This expansion of satellite texting capabilities is a testament to our commitment to ensure customers stay connected wherever they are. We know our customers expect more and we continue to innovate for them,” said Joe Russo, an EVP at Verizon.
Verizon plans to expand its satellite connectivity features beyond text messaging. The ultimate goal is to enable data services and video calling via satellites, and it is actively working toward it. Hopefully, the firm will soon roll out satellite text messaging to more smartphone models. T-Mobile’s Startlink-powered satellite services are available for a wide range of Galaxy and non-Galaxy smartphones.
