Spotify is once again raising prices in the US, and this time it’s not just the Individual plan getting hit. Starting with February billing cycles, users will pay more across all paid tiers. This also makes the Spotify the most expensive among its peers.

Spotify price hike means you’ll pay more for Individual, Duo, Family, and Student plans

Starting next month, the Individual Premium plan will cost $12.99 per month, up from $11.99. Duo plans are going up to $18.99, Family plans are jumping to $21.99, and Student subscriptions are also rising by a dollar to $6.99 per month. Similar price hikes are rolling out in Estonia and Latvia, but other regions aren’t affected by this round of increases.

Spotify says the price hike “reflect the value” it delivers and will help the company keep improving the service and supporting artists. However, it hasn’t announced any major new music-related features alongside the price bump. Notably, Spotify’s long-promised higher-quality audio option is still missing, even as rivals already offer better sound at lower prices.

The move stands out even more when compared with competitors. Apple Music and YouTube Music both charge less for individual plans in the US. Moreover, their family and student options are also cheaper. Apple also bundles Music with other services through Apple One, while YouTube offers Premium plans that include ad-free videos along with music streaming.

Spotify says affected users will receive emails explaining the changes, and the new prices will show up on February bills. If you’re on a paid plan in the US, this is your cue to check your inbox, and possibly rethink whether Spotify still makes sense at its new price.
