Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro May Push Galaxy S27 Ultra Price Higher

Even though the Galaxy S27 Ultra is months away from launch, a bunch of rumors have already started to surface. The latest rumor, however, might bring both good and bad news. The Galaxy S27 lineup could include the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
There are rumors Galaxy S27 Ultra could use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro
Of these, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could use Qualcomm’s unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. As the name suggests, it would sit above the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, which could appear in the other models. While the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro would bring more power to the Ultra, it would come at a cost. So far, that’s the good news.
In a new leak, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro could cost more than $300 per unit, according to serial tipster Abhishek Yadav on X. In comparison, the current Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra costs around $240 to $280. Samsung, or any company for that matter, isn’t likely to absorb these costs and will probably pass them on to consumers.
That’s the bad news. It’s looking increasingly likely that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could see a price hike. There is one way Samsung could maintain current pricing, positioning it similarly to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but that would mean lower profit margins on every unit sold. Just how things are that Samsung MX right now, per reports, the former seems more likely.
That would disappoint prospective buyers who might be looking to try the Galaxy S27 Ultra. They would have to pay a higher price for Samsung’s next Ultra phone. That said, there are still months before everything is finalized, so it’s best to take this with a pinch of salt.
