Samsungโ€™s Now Bar Reportedly Set to Support Third-Party Apps Soon

by | Mar 24, 2025 | News, One UI

A few days ago, a rumor suggested that Samsung may introduce a new Good Lock module, allowing users to customize One UI 7.0โ€™s Now Bar. Now, a report reveals Samsung is planning to integrate several third-party apps into Now Bar. Right now, Now Bar feature works with select Samsung and Google apps, but soon, it could also support other popular third-party apps. This means users will be able to do more things from the lock screen without having to open each app separately.

Samsung plans to add Kakao T and Naver Sports apps to Now Bar

According to a report from Korean outlet Etnews, Samsung will likely add several third-party apps, including Kakao T and Naver Sports, to the Now Bar supported apps list. Now Bar feature comes with the latest One UI 7 update, which is basically Samsungโ€™s own interpretation of the Dynamic Island concept. It is a pill-shaped dynamic element that integrates several apps to display information such as live notifications, music, and routines on the lock screen.

As of now, only 11 apps support Now Bar in South Korea. Apart from Baedal Minjok, Kakao Navi, and Naver Map, the others are mainly Google or Samsung-exclusive apps with limited functionality. Popular apps like YouTube and YouTube Music are still missing from the list.

The report reveals that Kakao T (Korean mobility app) will be the first app to join the Now Bar third-party apps support list. This app on the Now Bar will show the estimated arrival time for pickup or destination. It will also notify users of usage time for designated drivers or bikes. Naver Sports (a Korean sports platform) will be the second app to join the list. This sports app will provide updates on subscribed teams via โ€˜My Teamโ€™ on Naver and will support a couple of sports like soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball.

For now, the report mentions only these two apps but says that more third-party apps will support Now Bar in the future. Additionally, Now Bar apps could also support Cross-app Actions, a key feature of the Galaxy S25. This feature lets you handle multiple tasks across different apps with a single voice command.

It will be interesting to see which third-party apps Samsung brings to the Now Bar for global Galaxy devices running One UI 7.0.
