Samsung is developing its next generation Galaxy S flagships โ the Galaxy S26 series. Leaks and rumors have already started surfacing on the web, though its launch is still more than 10 months away (if the company follows a similar launch window). This time, a new rumor hints at the implementation of a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on Galaxy S26.
New ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in testing for the Galaxy S26 series
According to a well-known tipster @PandaFlashPro on X, who has a decent track record on Samsung-related stuff, the Korean firm is testing a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for flagship smartphones. While unconfirmed, it might apply this sensor to its 2026 Galaxy S series, i.e., the Galaxy S26 lineup.
While details about the sensor are unknown, the tipster says that the tested sensor is โsmaller than Vivo,โ meaning that the Galaxy S26 may not offer the increased sensor area found in the Vivo X90 Pro+, which makes unlocking even easier.
It is worth noting that the rumor is based on early prototypes of the Galaxy S26 โ Samsung may either stick to the same ultrasonic fingerprint sensor as the Galaxy S25 Ultra (which is Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2) or pack a completely new one, so take this information with a grain of salt for now.
Apart from the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, the tipster hints that we may see a significant upgrade in terms of display technology. โFor Display, Yes! For other things, Iโm not sure yet, Iโm waiting for my info Confirmation, then Iโll start share all the Details soon! [sic]โ @PandaFlashPro responded to a user query about whether they should wait for the S26 instead of buying the S25.
No UDC for the 2026 flagships
An earlier report suggests that Samsung would adopt the CoE display technology on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which could offer a brighter, slimmer, and more power-efficient screen. Thereโs a chatter also about an under-display selfie camera. While the concept is interesting, it may not be possible within the next 2-3 years. @PandaFlashPro says, โNow itโs 100% Confirmed All the Prototypes of the Galaxy S26 Ultra still have the Punch-Hole Camera with the Same Size of Hole as the Galaxy S25 Ultra.โ
