Earlier today, Samsung dropped a teaser for its upcoming Fold device, sending the rumor mill into overdrive. While the company stopped short of naming the phone outright, all signs point to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. But there’s a twist: Samsung repeatedly used the term “Ultra” throughout the teaser, hinting that the next foldable could be more than just a generational upgrade. Could there be a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra in the pipeline?

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 delivers an Ultra experience, or does it become Fold 7 Ultra?

Samsung recently published a short teaser piece on its Newsroom. Titled “Meet the Next Chapter of Ultra,” the post featured a GIF showcasing a Fold’s silhouette. The teaser gave us a fair idea of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s thinner and wider build. Samsung also revealed that the new foldable will feature bigger screens, better cameras, and enhanced performance. Sounds exciting? It gets better.

Besides the titles, Samsung referenced the word “Ultra” multiple times in the post, including phrases like “the Ultra experience is ready to unfold” and statements about delivering “industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance, and seamless AI integration” that “users have come to expect from Galaxy Ultra.” It’s clear Samsung wants to associate its next foldable with the premium “Ultra” pedigree.

Now, the big question is: Does Samsung plan to rename its next Fold as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra? Or is it just a reference to the experience it wants users to expect from the device: top-notch cameras, AI features, premium build, and sleek design? We know only as much as anyone else. There’s little chance Samsung will launch a Fold 7 and a Fold 7 Ultra, though.

If Samsung does launch an Ultra foldable, then the company might have to look for a new branding for its upcoming tri-fold that many assumed would earn the Ultra title. With the Unpacked event expected in early July, the company is clearly building anticipation. It wants to elevate its foldables to Ultra status in both experience and perception. Whether that’s through a new naming scheme or just marketing language remains to be seen.

For now, all we can do is wait — and keep an eye on the next teaser. Because if this is just the beginning of Galaxy’s “next chapter,” the story is far from over.
