Samsung Stalls Again, One UI 6.1 Update for Galaxy S24 Delayed

by | Aug 8, 2024 | Galaxy S, News, One UI

Galaxy S24 users, it’s time to sit tight and practice patience. Not only has the eagerly awaited One UI 7.0 beta update been delayed, but the new One UI 6.1 update with AI features and camera improvements is also reportedly stuck in the pipeline. Samsung has been working on both updates for a long time but still hasn’t made them consumer-ready.

Samsung’s new One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S24 delayed

Samsung introduced One UI 6.1.1 with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 last month. It added more Galaxy AI tools and other features to the One UI experience. The company is expected to roll out the updated version to older foldables and tablets. Other flagships will get the same goodies with a new One UI 6.1 update. The Galaxy S24 series, particularly the Ultra model, is also rumored to pick up camera enhancements with it.

A calculated guess suggests the One UI 6.1.1/6.1 update should go official in the first half of August. Several industry insiders have been saying the same all along. However, Ice Universe, one of the prominent sources of Samsung leaks, recently claimed that the Galaxy S24’s new One UI 6.1 update has been delayed. The tipster adds that the firm has thoroughly tested the update and achieved a stable build, but still delayed the rollout.

It’s unclear what’s holding up Samsung. While the tipster only talked about Galaxy S24’s One UI 6.1 update, the delay might also affect other models. Apart from the camera enhancements, the remaining content of the update is the same for all. Including foldables and tablets, which get One UI 6.1.1. Or maybe the Galaxy S24’s camera improvements are causing Samsung problems — it may be struggling to achieve the desired results.

In that case, the big feature update should roll out to other eligible models soon. Samsung has already released the August security patch to a few devices, including the Galaxy S24, without the new AI features. Hopefully, it won’t make users wait long for those. The One UI 7.0 beta already looks delayed by a few weeks, potentially pushing the stable update to late October or even November. Samsung, you need to get your act together soon.
