Apple may have dominated the global smartphone sales charts in 2025. However, Samsung held up strong and secured three spots in the world’s top 10 best-selling smartphones. This is according to a new report from Counterpoint Research.

Samsung’s Best-Selling phones of 2025

While the Galaxy S25 Ultra was anyway expected to make the list as the company’s main competitor to iPhones, the other two aren’t flagships at all, which makes their inclusion a surprise. In fact, this shows where the company’s real volume comes from. Moreover, it’s also the only Android flagship to make to the list of best-selling phones of 2025.

Galaxy A series is Samsung’s quiet sales powerhouse

The presence of two Galaxy A models — Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A06 4G — in the global top 10 shows the continued popularity of Samsung’s mid-range smartphone lineup. These devices also played a key role in making the Galaxy A series Samsung’s best-selling smartphone lineup.

The Galaxy A series continues to perform particularly well in markets such as India, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and parts of Europe, where demand is driven by affordability and practicality.

Galaxy A phones focus on essentials such as large displays, long battery life, and overall reliability, while maintaining competitive pricing. This well-balanced combination of features and cost allows Samsung to ship massive volumes of Galaxy A devices year after year.

Samsung apple best selling phones 2025 and 2024 counterpoint

While Samsung’s flagship phones get most of the attention, it’s the affordable Galaxy A series that consistently keeps the company competitive in the global market.

Apple may have claimed most of the top spots in 2025, but Samsung still showed strong performance thanks to the continued success of the Galaxy A series, which remains the company’s best-selling smartphone lineup.

That says a lot about where Samsung’s sales really come from. Flagship models matter, but the company relies far more on its mid-range phones.
