Samsung has released the One UI 8 Beta 2 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, marking another step in its Android 16–based beta program. The rollout follows recent beta releases for a bunch of other devices, as the company gears up for the stable rollout. Currently available in Korea, the new build should reach other beta-eligible markets soon.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 get One UI 8 Beta 2

The new firmware arrives with build version ZYI6 for both models. It carries the September 2025 security patch and addresses a bunch of bugs. In fact, Samsung is pushing the same set of fixes to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 as the Galaxy S23 series. Users get fixes for the random device reset issue and Samsung DeX settings being reset after a major OS update (from One UI 7 to One UI 8).

Additionally, the update ensures the Galaxy Watch 7’s weather app syncs with the connected device in real time. Samsung has also improved multi-window support for third-party apps. The official changelog specifically mentions fixing crashes that occurred when using the camera inside KakaoTalk chatrooms while in split-screen view.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 owners enrolled in the beta program can install the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. It’s unclear if Samsung plans a third One UI 8 beta release for these devices. The company has already confirmed a stable rollout for the Galaxy S25 series and select other models later this month.

A wider release, covering the Fold 5, Flip 5, and more devices, is expected in October. Most eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets should make the jump to One UI 8 before the end of the year. We will let you know when Samsung starts pushing the big Android 16-based update to your device.
